Celebraton Time!
Councillor’s Corner - July 4th, 2018Celebration time is here! What a wonderful week we had in our community.
I was able to attend the Grade 8 and Grade 12 graduation ceremonies and was wonderfully surprised by all the talented and high achieving students we have. The Grade 8 graduation at the Hornepayne Elementary School honoured five students moving on to high school. The ceremony was as always well organized and highlighted student’s achievements. It was a pleasure to be there and see the excitement and confidence in the eyes of our next high school Grade 9s. Wishing them all the best of luck as they start high school in the fall.
The Grade 12 graduation was special for me as my youngest daughter graduated and I have known most of these young adults since they were babies. It was delightful to see their smiles of pride for accomplishing this achievement. Best of luck in your next phase of life; be it the workforce, post secondary school or more high school, Hornepayne develops some of the brightest and well rounded young adults. Thank-you to our teachers and supplementary staff at the schools and of course our parents. I am proud of the education that my children received in our community and it has helped them accomplish everything they are doing now.
Finally, we had Canada Day at Cedar Point Park, a Spaghetti Dinner and the amazing fireworks display. What a wonderful, delightful, and happy day. It was good to chat with different people that I don’t usually see and connect with visiting former residents. The Recreation Committee and all the partners, volunteers and the fire department need a standing ovation for the magnificent day they created for us. At Cedar Point we fished, played games and had food. It was smiles all around. The fireworks display just blew me away, as it was the best that I had ever seen, and that is saying a lot since I have witnessed the display in Ottawa and over the Niagara Falls. Superbly executed day! Thank-you Everyone!
Have a great summer Hornepayne!
Sincerely,
Councillor Cheryl T Fort
