General Update
Councillor’s Corner - Wednesday May 2nd, 2018Hello Hornepayners, finally some nice weather and sunshine. Hopefully it lasts and helps us get into a better mood and forgot about how long and cold this past winter was, apologies now for those winter lovers out there. Although I do make the best of winter, the warm summer sun does make me smile and it is with excitement that I look forward to this summer as we celebrate our 90th birthday!
At council we have started budget talks and we are currently entraining a small increase to the water bills and an 2.68% increase to taxes, these figures are not set in stone yet. We have another budget meeting schedule on Wednesday May 16th at 1pm and as always, citizens are welcome to attend. If you can not make the meeting and want to voice concerns or thoughts please contact a member of council or the mayor, we are happy to hear from you.
This week I am away at the Northern Ontario Municipal Association (NOMA) Conference in Kenora. You may have seen some posts on my Facebook page about this already, if not, check it out. I am new to using Facebook Live but I think it would be great for people see what happens at a conference and see some of the people I get to meet. Looking forward to hearing what the three main provincial candidates have to say as well. As always a full report when I get back.
Sincerely,
Councillor Cheryl T Fort
